JOB OPENING: DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)

West Feliciana Parish Government is seeking to fill the full‐time position of Director of IT, which is responsible for assuring successful execution of the West Feliciana Parish Government’s business mission through development and deployment of the Parish’s technology presence. The IT Director is also responsible for the overall planning, organizing and execution of all IT functions for the Parish and the Parish’s technology infrastructure. This includes overseeing all IT operations, as well as, the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions. This position reports directly to the Parish President.

The IT Director is a hands‐on technical resource called on regularly to resolve desktop, server, and network issues and outages.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 Manages and oversees network design, implementation, management and troubleshooting of network servers, routers, firewalls, security applications, and underlying communication protocols and supporting network hardware.

 Serves a primary point of contact for parish fiber optic WAN infrastructure serving multiple locations and agencies.

 Supports, maintains, and implements desktop/laptop computers, servers and network equipment, printers, and other devices used by the Parish, which includes software installation and integration for all departments.

 Ensures data confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of systems and applications by creating, maintaining and enforcing technical and security standards/procedures.

 Analyzes complex business needs presented by user community and recommends/implements technical solutions.

 Develops an IT business plan and budget plan that supports both the long‐term and short‐term objectives of the Parish while also ensuring maximum value is provided while also minimizing operating costs.

 Maintains an inventory of all Parish devices (computers, cell phones, hot spots, iPads, etc.) and updates regularly.

 Responsible for the procurement and maintenance of all computer hardware and software for the Parish.

 Develops, implements, and revises IT policies and best practice guidelines for the Parish and ensures employees understand these policies/best practices.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree with at least 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and Desktops; 3 years’ experience supporting and managing Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange or Office 365. Experience in managing VMWare ESX and vSphere, network devices including firewall, switches, routers (at least 3 years) and experience managing storage appliance NAS or SAN and backup software or hardware. Technical certifications are a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license.
